Letter to Ms. Mason

Reminder that your letter to me is due tomorrow! Here is the information you were given in class. Note that you don't have to answer ALL of the questions. They are meant as a guide. You may share this as a google doc or turn it in tomorrow.

H.W. For tonight’s homework, I want you to write me a letter about your previous experiences in English class as well as your hopes and goals for the upcoming school year. Below are some questions you might want to address in the letter. You don’t have to address all of the questions, but your letter should be at least ¾ of a page long, double spaced.

1.) What would you say are your strong skills in English? (examples: reading comprehension, vocabulary, writing essays, creative writing, public speaking, grammar…)

2.) Of the skills listed above, which do you feel you would most like to improve?

3.) What is a book or story you have enjoyed reading in the past? Why did you enjoy it? What is a book or story you did not enjoy reading or struggled with? Why do you think you struggled?

4.) Do you like to read in your spare time? What do you read? If you don’t like to read, why not? What else do you do in your spare time?

5.) What is a project you enjoyed doing in school? Describe the project and why you enjoyed it.

6.) What are your goals for the future? How do you think improving your reading, writing, and vocabulary could aid you in accomplishing those goals?

7.) Do you have any particular concerns you would like to share with me as we begin the school year? For example, do you get nervous during public speaking or during exams? How would you like your teacher to treat you in order to ensure you learn as much as possible?
